<title>Women Truck Drivers Drops</title>

<description><![CDATA[<div><span> </span></div><div>The number of women behind the wheel of commercial vehicles nationally in 2024 reached its lowest point since 2019, according to Women In Trucking Association (WIT).&nbsp; Over the past five years, the women driver number grew, but dropped below 10% for the first time since 2019. <a href="http://www.womenintrucking.org/" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px; background-color: #ffffff;">www.womenintrucking.org</a></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>WIT&nbsp;<a href="https://www.womenintrucking.org/press-releases/women-in-trucking-association-releases-2024-25-wit-index-data" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px; background-color: #ffffff;">published results from its annual Women in Trucking Index&nbsp;</a>&nbsp; 2024 report, finding that women comprise 9.5% of all professional drivers, down from 12.1% the year prior.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The report said, “This decrease in female drivers has been explained by industry observers for a variety of factors, including: a lack of quality childcare, increased child homeschooling, safety concerns for female drivers, misperceptions of career opportunities for female drivers, and aging drivers now-retiring.”</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>To overcome the decline, WIT reported there are many reasons why women make “quality, reliable, efficient and safe professional truck drivers,” suggesting they may have a benefit over their male trucking industry counterparts—from driver to the C-suite:</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><ul style="color: #240802; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; background-color: #ffffff;"><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;">“They’re typically less likely to take risks and therefore can be safer drivers than men;</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;">Women generally possess strong multitasking and organization skills;</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;">They are strong communicators;</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;">Women usually are patient, focused and reliable.”</span></li></ul></div>]]></description>

These visas are in addition to the 66,000 H-2B visas already available, bringing the total number of H-2B visas available to 130,716.</span><br style="color: #240802;" /><br style="color: #240802;" /><span style="color: #240802;">This will include 20,000 visas to workers from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Honduras. <title>Oregon Sick Time – What Employers Need to Know</title>
