With the full adoption of the Heat Illness Prevention and Protection from Wildfire Smoke Rules, we will be bringing you information specifically directed towards each individual Rule in the upcoming Chaser and Mainline articles. On June 15th, the first of the two Rules are set to take effect, the Heat Illness Prevention Rule. This Rule has many provisions that you will be responsible for adhering to. Amongst these provisions, you will need to be sure to account for employee access to: shade, cool or cold drinking water, and rest breaks. The Heat Rule has set requirements for additional company plans, to include: communication plan, emergency medical plan, acclimatization plan, heat illness prevention plan, supervisor and employee training, and training documentation requirements.
OR-OSHA has helped with providing a few of the requirements mentioned above, including developing a sample Heat Illness Prevention Plan where you can insert your company’s specific information in to.
