What is Workers' Comp Insurance? Workers’ Compensation (Comp) insurance insures the relationship between a worker and the employer. Prior to the enactment of Comp laws, workers were forced to sue the employer for work related injuries. This resulted is valuable recovery time being lost and the accident having a major impact on both the worker and the employer. Comp laws are based on the premise of liability without fault. This means that the employer is liable for an injury in the workplace no matter who is deemed at fault, allowing the worker to recover faster and minimizing the accident's lasting
effects.
What is Return-To-Work? Return-to-work (RTW) is a program managed by SAIF that's sole purpose is to minimize the impact of an accepted Comp claim. It does this by assisting the worker in finding a doctor or specialist, moving doctors, getting appointments, assisting in creating light duty, and is a central point of contact for communication for between providers and the employer. The RTW program even helps find funding for light duty positions or training. RTW's singular goal is to minimize recovery time. Light duty has benefits
