Firefighting in Oregon revolves around what is known as the "Complete and Coordinated System". This means that every resource is critical to the work done during an incident. Loggers, land owners, farmers, public agency staff, fire crews and more are all firefighting heros in Oregon who get called to action during these critical times of need.

Many companies that engage during fire season also do work in the interim to help mitigate wildfire. One way this is accomplished is through putting "good" fire on the landscape. This is done through a practice called prescribed fire which includes site preparation including: mechanical or hand removal of vegetative fuels, piling fuels, creating fire lines, developing burn plans, etc. After the appropriate site preparations are made, smoke management and forestry regulations are followed to determine when a fire can occur on the landscape.  This allowable time to burn is called a "burn window".

Weather you are doing mitigation work outside of fire season or engaged in a fire fight during fire season, all of this work is essential in a state where fire has helped shape our landscape.
