Our Mission

In 1969, Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. was created by loggers for loggers, and its purpose is to enhance the current and future success of loggers and forest operators.

Our Purpose

Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. (AOL) is the statewide trade association for logging and forest operator businesses, which is dedicated to providing voice and service to independent forest small businesses working across Oregon. We provide numerous programs and services that benefit member companies and their working families. Additionally, AOL advocates for effective policy and business success, as we advance professionalism of the sector.

History

The association was first incorporated in early-1969, as Cascade Loggers Association. Its purpose was to unite independent loggers in Douglas, Lane, Linn, Benton, Lincoln, Deschutes, and Klamath counties. Its articles of incorporation were amended within six months to change the name and membership scope to Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. reflecting the association’s statewide interests that have now prospered for over half a century.

The association, then and now, fosters programs of common interest for its members in their endeavors at business, safety, communication, education, policymaking, economy, insurance, stewardship, innovation, independence, operations, camaraderie, professionalism, advocacy, and forest industry success. Our purpose in recent years has expanded to enhance the current and future success of the greater community of Oregon loggers and forest operators.

“Growing service and voice for loggers and forest operators since 1969”

Who We Are

AOL is a private firm engaged to serve approximately 1,000 member companies, as well as the greater community of Oregon forest operators and loggers. “AOL” is the commonly-used name for the family of entities that comprise the organization representing the small-business and forest operational sector across rural Oregon. We are organized as two separate corporations, plus a charitable foundation.

The 1,000 member companies of the association participate to advance the common interests of their small businesses. These family-owned enterprises comprise a diverse sector of trades contractors, who specialize in the many modern operations of growing and tending private and public forestlands. These independent forest contractors are similar to the diverse homebuilding and farming sectors, which are dominated by their specialized trades businesses. AOL member companies range in size from owner-operators, to small employers, to major employers and leaders within their community.

Member companies conduct sustainable forest management practices with contemporary technology and science, to continuously improve Oregon’s environmental, social and economic values of working forests. These innovative forest stewards grow, plant, harvest, access, transport, protect, maintain, and manage Oregon’s 30 million acres of forestlands. They engage approximately 23,000 working families, and sustain the forest sector as Oregon’s top-3 largest traded good economic producer.

These forest operators are integral to making the state, America’s largest grower and producer of structural lumber, plywood, and engineered wood.
