Workforce Development
Workforce Development
AOL is engaged to develop our future workforce.

Associated Oregon Loggers considers “workforce development” as a broad umbrella that includes activities which engage current and future workers to consider careers in the forest.  This includes helping to prepare young people for their first jobs in the industry, either through short term vocational training or a two-or-four-year degree.  Industry recruitment and retention are essential to the future of our industry. Just as important as finding skilled workers, machine operators, and site leaders is ensuring that these essential workers are properly educated and trained. AOL is engaged with our members and industry partners who are focused on the goal to attract, retain and train the future industry workforce.

Recruitment is not what it used to be - and over the last 50 years our industry has changed dramatically.  Change can be a good thing, and as we are staring down the future of the many changes, we can work together to shape and frame entry points for jobs in the woods, and ways to reach out to potential workers that meets the current industry.

AOL is working to develop new resources to help our members meet the changing world of work. We are building recruitment and retention tools through supporting our members.

Logger Day Road Show

AOL staff is committed to engaging in this learning activity when Oregon school kids are learning about the state's natural resources and present career opportunities in a memorable way.  This activity would not be possible without the incredible partnerships and presenters who show support for future workforce through participation and showcasing what they do.
