OR-OSHA has released some new supporting documents to help everyone meet the requirements, including: a fact sheet on key requirements (with a Spanish version), and wildfire smoke training video (with a Spanish version).
As with the Heat Rule training, the provided OR-OSHA training only meets half of the requirements, employers will still need to train on:
Methods for protecting employees from wildfire smoke
Where masks will be made available for voluntary use
If any scheduling or worksite changes will be put in to practice
Any job tasks that would put an employee at an increased risk by wearing the mask
Procedures Supervisors must follow when employees are in need of medical attention due to smoke exposure
How to operate and interpret results from the chosen method of air quality monitoring
Monitoring device
5-3-1 Visibility Index
Explanation of the two-way communication system established on the jobsite
Can be the same method as for the Heat Rule (ie. radio, cell phone, voice)
