'National Loggers Day’ Recognition Proposed Via Congressional Resolution

Thursday, October 20, 2022   (0 Comments)

The American Loggers Council announced in October the proposed designation of October 12th as “National Loggers Day.”  This nationwide proclamation would become federally-recognized through introduction of a US Senate Resolution, a House of Representatives Resolution, plus the signature and Letter of Recognition from President Biden.
American Loggers Council (AOL is a member) was instrumental in seeking recognition of logging, and its important contributions in building strong communities and nation.  The House Resolution had seven congressional co-sponsors, including US Representatives:  Cliff Bentz (R-OR), Rosendale (R-MT), McClintock (R-CA), Good (R-VA), Guest (R-MS), Van Taylor (R-TX), and Gohmert (R-TX).

American forests are healthy and sustainable due to the services that loggers provide to manage forests.  The American logger contributes to improving rural communities, forest health, animal habitat, wildfire mitigation, carbon sequestration, and renewable energy development.  Without loggers, these public economic and environmental benefits would not be possible.

Loggers forge the backbone for America’s managed forests.  Today’s loggers and forest operators sustainably harvest forests to create valuable fiber and forest resources used by every American and around the globe.  “Our forest products industry has supported good-paying jobs, driven local economies, strengthened rural communities, and protected our natural environment. I know of no other enterprise that requires more faith in the future and respect for the past,” said Resolution co-sponsor, Senator Collins (R-ME).
