Headlining the November 4th AOL Safety Conference was Rachel Housman, founder of Ally Safety. Her talk titled, “Timber Tactics, Practical Safety Tips You Can Use Every Day”, was broken in to 3 main areas:
Prevent
Prepare
Respond
Prevent “The easiest injuries to treat are the ones that never happen in the first place.” This may seem like a simple phrase, but sometimes we get so caught up in what we’re doing that we can forget prevention is the most important.
Prepare “Be Ready to respond to reduce the severity of accidents and injuries.” Proper preparation is key to any emergency response. When is the last time you or your crew trained on how to handle an emergency situation at your jobsite?
Respond “Be calm and take quick, decisive actions.” The ability to take a quick and decisive action during an emergency response relies on preparation, training, and good equipment.
