One of the injury claims that starts to increase this time of year is tick bites. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ticks are most active from April to September, but the hazard exists year-round. In Oregon, they are most commonly found in the Western half of the State.
Helpful Tips: Use tick repellents
Spray outdoor clothing, shoes, and other gear with a repellent that has 0.5% permethrin.
Use an insect repellent on any exposed skin, except your face.
Dress for protection
Wear light-colored clothing to make it easier for you or others to see.
Wear long-sleeved shirts tucked into your pants.
Wear long pants tucked into your socks or boots.
Check for ticks
Shower ASAP to wash off any loose ticks.
Use a mirror to check your body well.
