Call Your Agent Before you Burn

Friday, May 10, 2024   (0 Comments)
Oregon statute places primary liability for the damage of a prescribed fire and pile burning on the company that ignites the prescribed burn. If you are holding the drip torch, that is you.

Did you understand this liability exposure, and price this into your rate or bid? There is a giant difference between reacting to an immediate threat wildland fire situation and grabbing a drip torch to burn piles.

If you plan to start a prescribed burn in Oregon, you will likely find definite advantage in obtaining the Certified Burn Manager (CBM) training and Certification. With this documented training, your insurance agent may be able to obtain the liability coverage you need. If you blindly go burning the same as always, you may be putting your company at risk (if that burn escapes to cause damages). Call your insurance agent today if you plan to burn.
