In May 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) updated how it calculates Air Quality Index (AQI) values, which affect outdoor workers. Oregon OSHA wildfire smoke rule requirements, based on PM2.5 concentrations (particulate smoke pollution), are not changing — although the AQI values have changed upward, to be a bit more practical.
